ZPAK (Zion’s Parents and Kids) group is taking a break for the next couple of months. We are sad to say goodbye to the Parant Family as they just moved to Alabama and many of our ‘regulars’ are now in preschool on Monday mornings. If anyone wishes to restart/renew this great program, let me know.

Blessing of the Backpacks
(and briefcases, laptops, quilting bags, and harvest baskets or any item connected with your daily life)… It is the beginning of the school year, which signals a new year of work in our daily vocations. On Sunday, August 29, please bring your backpack, laptop or any tool connected with your vocation. We will place them around the altar and bless them as a part of our morning worship. The blessing recognizes God’s promise to bless us in our daily life.

Zion Lutheran Church Camping Weekend,
August 20th to 22nd
All Are Welcome!
The Zion Camping trip is coming up this August 20th thru the 22nd. This year we are camping at a new site; Old Folks Flats! All are welcome for the weekend, one night or just the day. The site will handle 50 people and up to 12 vehicles. Campers and/or RV’s must be no longer than 25 feet. There is plenty of space for tents and gear. The site has cooking areas with grills and tables. There is running water and flush toilets, Yea! Old Folks Flat Campground is nestled in beautiful Huntington Canyon along the Huntington Canyon National Scenic Byway on Utah Highway 31 at an elevation of 8,600 feet. Large spruce trees and aspens offer partial shade. The canyon area has numerous lakes and streams, vibrant summer wildflowers, colorful fall foliage, and abundant wildlife. Popular activities include fishing, hunting, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, rock climbing, and scenic driving. Huntington Creek runs across the road from the campground and offers a Blue Ribbon Fishery for brown, cutthroat, and rainbow trout. The 4-mile Left Fork of the Huntington National Recreation Trail for hiking and horses is nearby, as is the 10-mile Fish Creek Trail, for hiking, biking, and horses. There will be many games happening all weekend. Friday the 20th the campsite is available after 2:00pm. Saturday night around 6:00pm is our potluck dinner, camping style, so bring your favorite camp dish to share. Hint to everyone, this is good time to come up and visit. Sunday morning we will participate in some type of Camping Worship. Checkout is 1:00pm. The site is at 8,600 feet and will be cool at night. Please bring some wood for the camp fire. Don’t forget the nightly campfire treats! Please contact Rob LeVan with the number of people in your family and/or group that plan on coming, as well as the number and size of vehicles. There is a sign-up sheet and directions on the bulletin board at Zion.
