The 2009 trip has been rescheduled for 2010. As a follow-up to our assembly in El Paso, Texas, consider participating in this engaging, enriching, and challenging experience. The dates of the trip are June 8 - 16, 2010.
The Transformational Immersion Program is a program of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) at the Lutheran Center in Mexico City. The program is designed as a “reverse mission” process, in which group participants listen, learn, and grow through dialog and relationship with those on the margins of life. The group will go into the city streets, local barrios and rural villages to hear the stories of families and organizations struggling against poverty and injustice.
The Global Mission Committee of the Rocky Mountain Synod is offering four (4) $250.00 scholarships for participants in the 2010 RMS trip to the Lutheran Center in Mexico City.
Although preference will be given to youth and/or persons serving in youth ministry, any trip participant may apply for this scholarship money. Please go to Scholarship Application- Mexico City Trip, June 8-16, 2010 and apply before April 15, 2010. The Rocky Mountain Synod office must receive the scholarship application and your trip application, along with a $200 deposit.
ZION YOUTH PRAYER PROJECT (ZYPP)
Zion Youth Prayer Project Update: Thank you to all of you who continue to pray for Zion youth, both individually and collectively. Your prayers are being answered! Our youth are thriving, as evidenced by great efforts and participation in the Souper Bowl of Caring event in February and the recent Potato Bar/Bingo party fundraiser. Your prayers are still requested for upcoming spring youth happenings: possible participation in the interview process of our youth ministry coordinator candidates; safety during spring break activities; success in the closing months of the school year; confirmation; graduations; and mindful planning for the summer months. Remember that our youth are also praying for YOU! Please visit the prayer center (located at the back of the sanctuary by the baptismal font), jot down a prayer request on one of the colored slips of paper, and place the paper in the honeycombed board. Youth will retrieve and utilize your petitions as part of their regular prayer sessions.
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” (Romans 12:12)
